All-Party Meeting Begins in Punjab Over Water Dispute with Haryana

The Punjab government has started an all-party meeting to discuss the Bhakra Beas Management Board’s (BBMB) order asking Punjab to release 8,500 cusecs of water to Haryana. The meeting is taking place at Punjab Bhawan and is being chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Leaders from all major parties are present. From the Akali Dal, Balwinder Singh Bhunder and Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema have joined. Congress is represented by Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa and Rana KP. BJP President Sunil Jakhar, senior leader Manoranjan Kalia, and AAP Punjab President Aman Arora are also attending.

The BSP has sent Avtar Singh Karunpuri and MLA Nacchattar Pal. CPI(M) leader Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon is also present.

The Punjab government had invited top leaders from all parties last night, including Sukhbir Singh Badal (SAD), Amarinder Singh Raja Warring (Congress), and others, to discuss this important issue.

A special session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha has also been called for Monday to further address the matter.
