Akali Dal Core Committee Appeals to Central and State Governments.

Do not interfere in Sikh religious affairs and refrain from seizing control of Sikh institutions and Gurdwaras
Sukhbir Singh Badal says Punjab has an inseparable right over Chandigarh, and it must be immediately handed over to the state.

Today, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) made a forceful plea to the Central and State governments to stop meddling in Sikh religious matters and to stop managing the Takhts of the Khalsa Panth, such as Patna Sahib and Hazur Sahib. The party claimed that taking over the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) and forcing the creation of a distinct Gurdwara management committee in Haryana is not the proper approach to honor the Guru Sahibs who gave their lives in opposition to religious persecution and intolerance.

Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib established a special example by giving the greatest sacrifice for religious belief, morals, and other religious matters, according to a resolution agreed at the Core Committee meeting held at the party headquarters here. The fact that the Central government and the governments of Maharashtra, Bihar, and Haryana are still engaging in the religious persecution and meddling that Guru Sahib sacrificed himself for is extremely depressing. The fact that governments today are adhering to Aurangzeb’s policy is astounding.

Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal, President of the Akali Dal, presided over the gathering.

Sardar Badal said in a statement released here that it is wonderful that the entire nation is honoring the great Guru Sahib today. According to him, this tribute won’t be genuine unless the Central government and the governments of Bihar, Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, and other states cease interfering with the operations of Sikh religious institutions and Gurdwaras.

Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the Central Government’s actions, such as making Chandigarh a Union Territory, eliminating the democratic process in Panjab University and bringing it under central control, and ending Punjab’s control over the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), are injustices being done to Punjab. He stressed that Punjab has an inseparable right over Chandigarh, and the Akali Dal will never tolerate attempts to snatch it from Punjab. He demanded that the Union Territory be handed over to Punjab. He also appealed to Punjabis and political parties to support the Akali Dal in protecting the rights of the state.

Meanwhile, the Core Committee took serious note of the attack against Sri Akal Takht Sahib and said that the Akali Dal would never tolerate such derogatory language. The party expressed gratitude to its President, Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal, under whose inspiring leadership the party received an unparalleled response in the Tarn Taran by-election. The party also announced that it will contest the Zila Parishad elections on the party symbol.

The Core Committee passed another resolution expressing deep sorrow over the demise of the mother-in-law of Jangvir Singh, Media Advisor to Shiromani Akali Dal President Sardarni Amarjit Kaur.
