An Air India flight from Kochi veered off the runway while landing at Mumbai airport on Monday morning due to heavy rain. Fortunately, all passengers and crew members are safe.
The incident involved flight AI2744, which landed during intense rainfall. Despite the runway excursion, the aircraft safely taxied to the gate, and everyone on board disembarked without any injuries.
An Air India spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating, “The aircraft experienced heavy rain during landing, resulting in a runway excursion. It later taxied safely to the gate.”
A team from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is currently inspecting the aircraft and reviewing the situation. The plane has been grounded for safety checks.
The airline assured that passenger and crew safety remains their top priority.
