An Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick crashed in Ahmedabad on Thursday, shortly after takeoff. The flight, AI 171, left Ahmedabad at 1:38 PM with 242 people on board, including passengers and crew members.
Air India confirmed that among those on board were 169 Indian nationals, 53 British nationals, one Canadian, and seven Portuguese citizens.
The airline said that the injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. A special helpline number — 1800 5691 444 — has been set up to help families with more information.
In a statement on social media, Air India said it is fully cooperating with authorities to investigate the incident.
