After 5 months, Ashu-Warrinq were seen together in Punjab: Reached Tarn Taran for a Congress candidate’s rally, remained seated on the stage, and did not speak to each other.
The Congress party has sent out leaders at all levels to participate in the Tarn Taran Assembly by-election in Punjab. Five months later, former minister and working president Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, the leaders of the party’s numerous sections, were spotted together on a single stage in Tarn Taran.
During the rally to support the party candidate Karanbir Singh, Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Amarinder Singh Raja Warring were spotted on the same stage in Tarn Taran. But there was still a gap between them. Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Amarinder Singh Raja Warring were seated far apart on the stage. On stage, the two didn’t exchange words.

Ashu is seen occupied with his faction’s leaders.
Since the Lok Sabha elections, Bharat Bhushan Ashu has stayed away from Amarinder Singh Raja Warring’s public appearances. During his election campaign, he hasn’t even taken the platform alongside Raja Warring very often. He had to sit on the stage at the gathering when he travelled to Tarn Taran on Thursday to advocate for the party. He was observed to be occupied with his own faction’s leaders throughout this period.
The last time Ashu took the stage was during the nomination.
On May 30, 2025, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Bharat Bhushan Ashu were spotted together while submitting their nominations for the Ludhiana West Assembly by-election. Even during the election campaign, the two leaders were never again spotted together on a public platform.
The gap between the two leads had grown even further at this time. Ashu left his position as Working President after the loss. Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, the president of the Punjab Congress, did not try to convince him, though. On Thursday following May 30th, the two leaders were spotted on a stage in Tarn Taran.
The ‘Vote Chor Kursi Chhod’ Signature Campaign was avoided by Ashu.
Ashu was away from party operations for a while after losing the by-election. The ‘Vote Chor Kursi Chhod’ (Steal the Vote, Leave the Chair) trademark campaign meetings did not feature him either. But Ashu has been very active in his seat lately, and he has now been to Tarn Taran to support the party’s candidate.
Ashu was observed conferring with Gurjeet Aujla, Pargat Singh, Tript Rajinder Bajwa, Pratap Singh Bajwa, and other leaders at Tarn Taran. Pargat Singh and Ashu were spotted conversing for a while prior to the protest starting. Sources claim that the two party-state presidents, Ashu and Warring, do not currently get along well.
