Accused Arrested with 100 Grams of Heroin — Major Success in Mohali Police’s Campaign Against Drugs
Kharar (Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar), October 7:
The Mohali District Police has made significant progress in its continuing campaign against anti-social elements, following the directives of Shri Harmandeep Singh Hans, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, District S.A.S. Nagar.
Inspector Harminder Singh, In-charge CIA Staff Mohali, led the team that successfully arrested an accused person and found 100 grammes of heroin in his possession under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Shri Saurav Jindal, Superintendent of Police (Operations) Shri Talwinder Singh, and Deputy Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Shri Jatinder Singh Chauhan.
In connection with the Dussehra celebration, the CIA staff police party was conducting a checkpoint (nakabandi) near Christian School in Kharar on 02-10-2025, inspecting suspicious people and cars. A person was observed walking from the Kharar side during this time, and when he saw the police party, he began to turn around. Under suspicion, Sub-Inspector Gurpratap Singh pulled him over and examined him.
A steel water bottle that opened from the bottom was discovered with him during the search. One hundred grammes of heroin were found within the bottle once it was opened and examined. The accused was taken into custody after FIR No. 360, dated 02-10-2025, was filed at Police Station City Kharar in accordance with Section 21 of the NDPS Act.
Identification of the Accused:
Son of Karnail Singh, Harjeet Singh, also known as Harry, lives in Ward No. 5 Kamboj Nagar, Pippal Wali Gali, Ferozepur. He is married, about 34 years old, and a 12th grade graduate. The defendant had previously supplied heroin in the Mohali district after bringing it from Ferozepur. He is already the subject of a previous complaint, FIR No. 51, dated 06-06-2025, filed at Police Station Phase-8 Mohali under Sections 21/29 of the NDPS Act.
Interrogation is still going on, and the accused has been placed under police remand. The accused was supplying the heroin to a person or people, and the police are trying to identify them.
