AAP Rejects Anmol Gagan Maan’s Resignation, Asks Her to Continue as MLA

A day after announcing that she was quitting politics, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Anmol Gagan Maan’s resignation as MLA from Kharar has been rejected by the party.

AAP Punjab president Aman Arora met her on Sunday and said that the party had decided not to accept her resignation. He shared on X (formerly Twitter), “Today, I met Anmol Gagan Maan in a family-like environment. The party has rejected her resignation, and she agreed to continue. She is and will remain a part of the AAP family.”

Anmol had earlier posted on social media that she was leaving politics and had submitted her resignation to the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly. She wrote, “With a heavy heart, I have decided to quit politics. My resignation as MLA may be accepted. I wish the party well and hope the Punjab Government fulfills people’s expectations.”

Anmol Gagan Maan, 36, is a former singer who joined AAP in 2020. She became a minister in Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s cabinet in July 2022 but was removed in September 2023. She is originally from Mansa district in Punjab.
