Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP from Anandpur Sahib Malvinder Singh Kang has landed in controversy after deleting a post he made on social media about the Land Pooling Policy.
Late last evening, Kang posted on X asking his party leaders to build trust with farmers over the Land Pooling Policy. He said the government should listen to farmers’ concerns and talk to them with empathy. He also mentioned the work done by the AAP government in agriculture over the past three years and stressed that trust must be earned before starting any new policy.
His post was shared by some Opposition leaders including Congress MLA Sukhpal Khaira who praised Kang for speaking up.
However a few hours later Kang deleted the post. This sparked strong reactions. Farmer supporters and Opposition leaders criticized him for taking down his statement.
Sources close to Kang said that he had already raised farmers’ concerns with party leaders and that he and other AAP members had faced public anger in villages about the policy.
Kang has not spoken publicly about why he deleted the post.
