AAP Is a ‘Disaster’, Not a Government, Says Congress Leader Bharat Bhushan Ashu in Ludhiana

Calling the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rule in Punjab a “disaster” rather than a government, Congress working president and Ludhiana (West) candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu today said that Punjab would soon get rid of this “aapda” (disaster), with a new beginning starting from Ludhiana.

Speaking informally with the media during a series of public meetings, Ashu said people were remembering the Congress government’s term from 2017 to 2022 and comparing it with AAP’s performance. “It’s working in my favour,” he said, “because people are now seeing the difference. We didn’t make fake promises—we delivered on the ground. AAP’s tall claims have turned out to be hollow.”

He accused the current AAP-led Punjab government of failing on all fronts—governance, law and order, and public welfare. “There’s complete anarchy now. Lawlessness, vendetta politics, and corruption are ruling the state,” Ashu added.

The Congress leader also challenged AAP and its local candidate to name even one solid achievement in Ludhiana or the state. “I’m confident their ad campaign budget is bigger than all their actual development work combined,” he said, targeting the AAP government for spending heavily on publicity rather than real work.

Ashu also pointed to what he called political vendetta by the AAP government, claiming he had been falsely targeted. “The court not only quashed the case against me but also clearly said it was politically motivated. I feel vindicated—and now, I’m seeking justice from the people,” he added.

With elections nearing, Ashu said he believes people are ready for change and are turning back toward the Congress, hoping for stability and honest governance.
