Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a massive roadshow on Friday in Ludhiana ahead of the Ludhiana West bypoll, culminating in the nomination filing of party candidate Sanjeev Arora.
The roadshow, which began at Aarti Chowk and passed through Ghumar Mandi, witnessed large crowds and enthusiastic participation. AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led the show before departing the venue.
Following their departure, Sanjeev Arora, accompanied by Minister Aman Arora, proceeded to the Deputy Commissioner’s office at the Mini-Secretariat to file his nomination papers.
While the roadshow drew significant attention, it also caused major traffic disruptions in the city. Commuters were left stranded for hours on key roads, including Ferozepur Road.
Sonia Grewal, a commuter caught in the jam, voiced her frustration. “It is only a bypoll and look at the way political parties are splurging on roadshows and campaigning. It’s the public that suffers. I had an appointment with a doctor but couldn’t reach on time because of the traffic,” she said.
The bypoll has gained momentum as AAP aims to consolidate its presence in Ludhiana, while other parties prepare for a strong contest. However, the public inconvenience caused by campaign events has sparked concerns about civic planning and crowd management during political rallies.
