Before the Filmfare Awards, which are scheduled for August 23 in Mohali, Punjab, CM Bhagwant Mann has received a complaint against Punjabi artist Yo-Yo Honey Singh. Professor Pandit Rav Dharnevar of Chandigarh has addressed a letter to the chief minister regarding this issue.
According to him, Honey Singh should at the very least be asked to swear that he will take down any offensive songs about alcohol, drugs, and women from YouTube if he is allowed to sing. He shouldn’t be given the opportunity to sing if he doesn’t. He stated in the letter that you must put an end to the drug war that you have initiated.
In his letter, the professor primarily brought up two points:
According to Prof. Rav, a lot of Honey Singh’s songs support the culture of guns, drugs, and alcohol. In addition, there are songs on YouTube that denigrate women.
Honey Singh received a notice from the Punjab Women’s Commission for using disparaging words. Additionally, they had mandated that he appear before the commission. Nevertheless, Honey Singh has yet to appear before the panel, and the commission had already requested a report from the police on the subject.
Jasbir Jassi, a singer, also voiced opposition.
Jasbir Singh Jassi, a Punjabi artist, has publicly criticised Yo-Yo Honey Singh’s performance at the Filmfare Awards. Giving musicians like Honey Singh a stage is wrong, he adds, but it’s a wonderful thing, and he embraces it. He claimed that Honey Singh’s lyrics denigrate women and encourage kids to use drugs and alcohol. In an interview, Honey Singh even declared that he would implant narcotics into the future generation’s DNA.
He asked why the Punjabi government, which is waging a war on narcotics, was permitting such an artist to perform. According to Jassi, maintaining his humility is not a sign of weakness, and he is prepared to take on any challenge.
In conclusion, he urged Punjabis to resist these musicians since they are contaminating the minds of young people. Although he made it obvious that friendship has its place, he stated that he would always support Punjab.
