Partap Singh Bajwa Reaches High Court: Do You Know What the Whole Matter Is?
The court is currently considering the alleged violence and altercations that occurred on December 4 during the ਪੰਜਾਬ Zila Parishad and Block Samiti nomination filing. ਪੰਜਾਬ’s Leader of the Opposition, Partap Singh Bajwa, visited the ਪੰਜਾਬ and Haryana High Court ਅੱਜ, Friday.
He has submitted a petition about the prejudice, abuse of authority, and violence against Congress candidates that took place during the nomination process. The Honourable ਮੁੱਖ Justice has approved the oral appeal due to the gravity of the case, and the hearing will now take place on Monday, December 8, 2025.
Demand for Extension of Nomination Period
Bajwa has asked the Court to extend the deadline for submitting nomination papers for candidates who were unable to do so because of the chaos and violence in a petition submitted through his attorney, Arshpreet Khadial.
Action Demanded Against ਪੁਲਿਸ Officials
The petition calls for severe punishment for ਪੁਲਿਸ officers who allegedly followed orders from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ਸਰਕਾਰ and either failed to stop the violence or took a biased stance. Bajwa claims that the abuse of the ਸਰਕਾਰ and ਪੁਲਿਸ is stifling democracy.
Appeal to Appoint an Observer
Bajwa has also called for the establishment of a “Supervisor” or “Observer” to oversee the entire election process in order to guarantee free and fair elections. He thinks there is a good chance that elections will be rigged in the absence of unbiased oversight. Now, everyone’s attention is on Monday’s hearing.
