The Gang Canal’s 100th anniversary celebration is canceled. The centennial commemoration of the Gang Canal’s completion, which was supposed to take place today, December 5, 2025, has been canceled by the Central Government. Rajasthan receives water from this canal.
Justification for the Choice
The Harike Headworks in Ferozepur was to host the event.
The Central Government was informed by several Punjab BJP leaders that the celebrations would cause a reaction against the party. The Central Government chose to stop the program and recall the Union Jal Shakti Minister after receiving this advice from party leaders. The decision was taken with the view of avoiding potential political damage.
