Electricity Workers Announce Suspension of Work Starting Thursday.
Around a month ago, an accident occurred in Khaira village when a youngster died after a combine harvester, cutting crops in the fields, came into contact with electricity wires. The police then filed a case against a JE (Junior Engineer) and another PSPCL employee (Powercom) in response to a complaint from the combine owner. Sri Hargobindpur Circle Powercom workers have been consistently opposing this move and have met with senior police officials, including the SHO to demand that the case be dropped.
Employees at Powercom have ceased work today and issued a two-day ultimatum in protest of the case’s failure to be dismissed. The workers threatened to entirely cease operations starting on Thursday if the lawsuit against the Powercom employees was not dropped.
