‘Raising Issues is Not Drama…’ Priyanka Gandhi Hits Back at PM Modi’s Statement.
On the opening day of the Parliament’s Winter Session, political tensions skyrocketed. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi fiercely responded against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s advice to the opposition not to engage in “drama.”
In a clear response to the PM’s statement, she said:
“There are a few fundamental problems. The election scenario, pollution, and SIR (perhaps a shorthand for a particular issue or a reference to the specific issues/scams discussed in a separate context) are all major concerns. What is the purpose of Parliament? Drama is not what this is. Raising and discussing issues is not dramatic. Drama entails preventing conversation. Drama is the absence of a democratic dialogue on matters that the public needs to know about.
What Was Said by PM Modi?
Notably, Prime Minister Modi made fun of the opposition in a speech to the media shortly before the meeting started. “There is a lot of space for doing drama; whoever wants to do it can keep doing it,” he had stated. Here, delivery takes place rather than theatrics. The PM added that some parties disrupt Parliamentary procedures because they are reluctant to accept their defeat. The political heat has now increased as a result of this comment.
