Punjab’s First Indoor Volleyball Hall and Synthetic Tennis Court’s Foundation Stone Laid by Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora.
SCD Government College Will Build Projects Valued at ₹4.37 Crore
Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora on Saturday laid the foundation stone for Punjab’s first state-of-the-art indoor volleyball hall and a government synthetic tennis court at SCD Government College, Ludhiana, marking a significant step toward fostering sports and developing talent in the region.
Mr. Sanjeev Arora and Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain commended the efforts made to make these projects a reality and guarantee prompt advancement of Ludhiana’s sports infrastructure development.
According to Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, the ₹3.6 crore Indoor Volleyball Hall will be Punjab’s first indoor volleyball facility. Players’ preparation and performance were negatively influenced by the intense heat, rain, and cold they had to endure while practicing and competing outside. Ludhiana’s volleyball players will be able to compete at a greater level thanks to this new arena, which will offer international-standard training conditions because volleyball is specifically an indoor sport at the Olympic level.
Furthermore, ₹77 lakh has been approved for the construction of the district’s first government synthetic court. Tennis players’ long-standing demand has now been satisfied, guaranteeing year-round, top-notch sports training that will immediately improve performance in national and international competitions.
According to Mr. Arora, the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is totally dedicated to improving the state’s sports infrastructure. These Ludhiana initiatives serve as evidence of that goal. He underlined that the new synthetic tennis court and indoor volleyball hall will generate numerous winners who will honor Punjab and the nation. He continued by saying that these programs usher in a new era for sports in Ludhiana, giving athletes access to top-notch facilities and enhancing Punjab’s standing as a major force in Indian sports.
He added that the SCD Government College team has won the University Championship for 14 years running, demonstrating Ludhiana’s strength in volleyball. The city’s rich athletic history is demonstrated by the fact that six to seven players on the Indian Volleyball Team are from Ludhiana. In order to significantly increase sports, Mr. Arora further said that over 3000 sports stadiums will be built in villages throughout the state in the upcoming days as part of an initiative by the Punjab government. The “Khedan Vatan Punjab Dian” (Sports of the Homeland Punjab) project, he continued, has already been crucial in this area and has assisted in keeping young people away from the threat of narcotics.
