State Congress In-Charge Baghel Set to Meet Party Leaders on March 1

New Congress Leader Bhupesh Baghel to Meet Punjab Party Members on March 1, Addressing Party Unity and Organizational Changes

Chandigarh: Bhupesh Baghel, the newly appointed Congress general secretary in charge of Punjab, will have his first meeting with party leaders on March 1.

During this meeting, Baghel plans to discuss changes within the Congress party in Punjab. He will meet with MLAs, MPs, and heads of district units to hear their opinions. Before the meeting at the Punjab Congress Bhawan, he will visit religious places in Amritsar. The Punjab Congress Committee (PPCC) chief, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, is organizing a large gathering to welcome him.

Baghel’s visit comes after reports of group conflicts and issues with discipline within the state party. Some leaders expect that warnings may be issued to address these concerns soon. Recently, MLA Rana Gurjeet Singh criticized Warring for being selfish regarding ticket allocations for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Although Warring has remained calm, he stated that indiscipline in the party would not be accepted.

Since Warring became PPCC chief in April 2022, there have been delays in restructuring the party’s state unit. As a senior leader from the OBC community, Baghel has been sent to Punjab to help unify the party ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
