Administration Engaged in Census Preparations in Ludhiana: Teachers from Government-Private Schools Will Also Be Assigned Duty, and Nodal Officers Seek List.


In Punjab, administrative preparations for the census have started. For the area-wise census, the Deputy Commissioner has designated Nodal Officers and Assistant Zonal Officers at the district level and directed them to set up personnel.

In order to assign census duties, the Nodal Officers have asked the Assistant Zonal Officers for a list of teachers from government, assisted, and private schools. For the census, the Assistant Zonal Officers have also begun requesting lists of private school teachers.

Assistant Officers Are Told to Send in the List Within Two Days
The Nodal Officers have given the Assistant Zonal Officers instructions to compile the list of teachers for the census right away and turn it in within two days.

Enumerators may receive up to ₹1,500 for each block.
The census workers would be paid up to ₹1,500 for each block of labor. The government will cover this sum.

Additionally, the central government announced that it would be conducting the Census of India in 2027.

Operations for listing homes will start in April 2026.
The House-listing Operation (HLO), the census’s initial phase, is slated to start in April 2026. Population Enumeration (PE), the second phase, will thereafter take place in February 2027.

Boundary Freezing January 1, 2026 is the deadline.
All states and union territories are required by the government to complete any modifications to their administrative boundaries (districts, tehsils, police stations, etc.) by December 31, 2025. For the purposes of the census, the boundaries cannot be altered between January 1, 2026, and March 31, 2027.
