Chief Election Commissioner Orders Punjab DGP to Appear.
November 18, 2025, Chandigarh: Regarding the FIR filed in relation to the Tarn Taran by-election, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has taken significant action. Gaurav Yadav, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Punjab, has been instructed by the Commission to visit its headquarters in the National Capital on November 25.
ADGP’s “Investigation Report” is followed by action.
Sources claim that the ECI took this action following the receipt of ADGP Ram Singh’s investigative report, which the Commission had requested.
Akali Dal had submitted a “complaint.”
Notably, the Akali Dal, under the leadership of Sukhbir Badal, complained about this matter to the Election Observer. They had claimed that the police were targeting Akali workers and filing bogus reports at the AAP government’s request.
