Ahead of the Budget Session, Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa made strong allegations against the Punjab Government, claiming that its bulldozer drive was targeting only small operators in the drug trade while leaving the big players untouched.

Bajwa also criticized Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for allegedly backstabbing farmers, accusing him of colluding with the BJP-led Union Government. He clarified that it was Haryana, not the farmers, that had closed the borders by putting up concrete barriers, and accused AAP of working with the BJP to damage the farmers’ image.

Additionally, Bajwa condemned the recent police action against farmers, especially the reported thrashing of a serving Army colonel, which he said reflected the deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab. He stated that the state had effectively become a “police state.” In response to the incident, the Congress party demanded the dismissal of all 13 police officers involved in the assault on the colonel.
