Tarn Taran By-election Result: Close Fight Between AAP and Akali Dal, AAP Leads by 187 Votes; Amritpal’s Party in Fourth Place.


Votes for the assembly by-election in Tarn Taran, Punjab, have been counted since this morning at eight in the morning. The International College of Nursing’s counting facility is where the EVM votes are being counted. Five of the sixteen rounds of counting have already been finished.

Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa, an Akali Dal contender, was ahead in the first three rounds. Harmeet Sandhu, a candidate for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), then assumed the lead. The AAP candidate is ahead by 187 votes after the fifth round.

Karanbir Singh Burj of the Congress is in third place, Mandeep Singh Khalsa of Waris Punjab De’s Akali Dal (Amritsar), a group that supports Khalistan, is in fourth, and Harjeet Singh Sandhu of the BJP is in fifth.

On November 11, 60.95% of voters in Tarn Taran cast ballots. 65.81% of voters cast ballots in the most recent Assembly election (2022). After Kashmir Singh Sohal of the AAP, who had won the election, passed away, this seat became vacant.

AAP led by 179 votes in the fourth round.

Sukhwinder’s lead shrank in the third round. The lead dropped to 374.

Sukhwinder of Akali Dal’s lead grew to 1480 in the second round.

Sukhwinder of Akali Dal was ahead in the first round. AAP came in second.

Total Votes by Candidate Party: Sandhu Harmeet Singh 11727, Randhawa, Sukhwinder Kaur Dal 11540, Akali.
