Punjab’s Panchs and Sarpanchs Have a New Order
November 13, 2025, Chandigarh: A fresh directive has been issued by the Punjab government for the state’s Panchs (ward members) and Sarpanchs (village heads).
No Panch or Sarpanch will be permitted to travel overseas without prior authorization as a result of this edict.
To ensure that this rule is strictly followed, the Panchayat Department has sent a letter to all Panchayat Officers and Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs). The administration claims that this action is required because the development efforts in the villages are being impacted by the extended stays of numerous delegates overseas.
