Police Checking Outside Schools in Ludhiana: Crackdown on Sellers of Tobacco and E-Cigarettes; ACP Says the Campaign Will Run Daily.


Police teams in Ludhiana, Punjab, increased their monitoring of tobacco and e-cigarette sales outside of schools this morning. Teams of police officers checked several locations. Police authorities have warned the Paan-Beedi vendors that they will face severe consequences if they sell tobacco or e-cigarettes within 100 meters of a school.

ACP-South, ACP-Industrial Area-B, and Zone-02 police personnel actively participated in the raids during this special campaign, which was overseen by ADCP-02 Karanvir Singh.

Shopkeepers and vendors discovered selling tobacco or e-cigarettes to minors or in forbidden places faced severe consequences after many surprise inspections were carried out in the vicinity. The officials will shortly make the specifics of this move public.

According to Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, this initiative makes it clear that Ludhiana Police is totally dedicated to upholding the law and making sure that students are in a healthy atmosphere. He added that similar initiatives will be carried out in the future to protect young people from dangerous narcotics and to guarantee adherence to the law.

The Ludhiana Police have urged the public to assist by reporting any illicit tobacco or e-cigarette sales close to schools to the closest police station.
