Akali Leader from Fazilka Arrested in Mohali: Accused of Firing during Panchayat Elections; Brother already Apprehended.
The Fazilka police near Mohali have detained Akali leader Varadev Singh Noni Maan of the Fazilka area.
The incident had to do with a disagreement that arose during the Panchayat elections in Jalalabad. He was accused of shooting rounds during the altercation.
Noni Maan was one of numerous people who were booked in this incident, and one person was hurt by a bullet. But in this instance, Naradev Singh Bobby Maan, the president of the Fazilka Rural Akali Dal District and brother of Noni Maan, has already been taken into custody.
Harpinder Singh Maan, the son of Noni Maan, revealed that the Fazilka District Police had taken his father into custody. He was brought before the Jalalabad Court following the arrest.
The government attorney, however, requested a five-day police remand for his father. His father’s attorney refuted this, claiming that his uncle, Naradev Singh Bobby Maan, had already been taken into custody.
Outside the Jalalabad Court complex, a crowd gathered.
Court Issues a Three-Day Remand
He added that the police had already demonstrated the weapon’s recovery. The Court placed his father, Varadev Singh Noni Maan, under three days of police remand after hearing arguments from all sides. The Jalalabad police filed a case at the City Jalalabad police station against Akali leader Varadev Singh Noni Maan, former Shiromani Akali Dal Lok Sabha candidate from Firozpur Naradev Singh Bobby Maan, and other unidentified individuals after one person was shot.
