Punjab Congress President Raja Warring booked under SC/ST Act; Ludhiana MP had made casteist remarks against the former Home Minister.
Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, a Congress MP from Ludhiana and president of the Punjab Congress, has been the subject of a formal complaint in Kapurthala. A statement he made about Buta Singh, the late former Home Minister, is the basis for the lawsuit. Sarabjot Singh Sidhu, the son of Buta Singh, reported Raja Warring to the police.
Raja Warring has been accused of violating Sections 3(1)(u) and 3(1)(v) of the SC/ST Act 1989. The Finance Minister of the AAP government, Harpal Cheema, declared yesterday that Warring would face legal action.
It’s important to remember that Raja Warring made a contentious remark about the late Buta Singh.
“Are you familiar with Buta Singh’s name? He was a very black man who used to add chaff or fodder to the burner. He was appointed the nation’s home minister by the Congress.
Despite Raja Warring’s apology, the situation is still unresolved. Regarding the action on Warring, the National SC Commission has asked the Deputy Commissioner and SSP of Tarn Taran to respond within seven days. In the meantime, the District Election Officer has been called by the Punjab SC Commission. They questioned why Warring has not yet been prohibited from accessing the district.
