At PU (Panjab University), Chandigarh, the chants “We Want Freedom” and “Chandigarh Police Go Back” were chanted late last night. According to an affidavit released by the university, the Chandigarh Police had actually come to remove a student leader who had been on an indefinite hunger strike outside the University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, for the previous four days.
The student leader in question was to be removed by the police and sent to the hospital. The students claimed that the police officers had mistreated them while intoxicated.

In addition to serving as the Council’s general secretary, he is the head of Panjab University’s student organisation.
The police made an effort to disperse the demonstration that was taking place outside the vice chancellor’s office. When the police arrived, they tried to speak with the students before attempting to use light force.
Political Leaders Continue to Visit Students
However, the dissolution of Panjab University’s Senate and Syndicate has also sparked controversy, and student leaders are voicing their disapproval. In the meantime, there is a constant influx of political leaders who were once students. Malvinder Singh Kang, the MP for Fatehgarh Sahib, Munish Tewari, the MP for Chandigarh, and a number of other former student leaders frequently come here to oppose the university’s position. What is the entire controversy?

This has already been the subject of protests by members of various student unions.
Students claim that their rights are being violated: The students claim that the democratic right to dissent is being intentionally suppressed. Leaders claimed that the university administration is not holding open discussions with the student body on the withdrawal of the affidavit, despite intense criticism and multiple student protests in recent months.
