BREAKING: CBI Takes Former DIG on Remand: Vigilance also wanted a production warrant, but the agency opposed it; Bhullar hugged his daughter.
The CBI has placed former Punjab DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar on a five-day detention after he was detained in connection with a corruption investigation. Permission was given by the Chandigarh court on Saturday. An application to place the former DIG on detention has been submitted by the CBI.
HS Dhanoa and RPS Bara, Bhullar’s solicitors, objected to this. The CBI countered that further proof and evidence must be gathered.
In the meantime, in a case involving assets that are out of proportion to income, Vigilance has also submitted a plea to the Mohali court requesting Bhullar on a production warrant.
The CBI, however, was against this.

The appearance at the Chandigarh court was also attended by Bhullar’s daughter. Bhullar gave his daughter a hug and spent some time talking to her as they left the court. He was then brought downstairs to the court lockup (Bakshi Khana).
