Demand to Name Post Office After Former PM

Amritsar MP writes a letter to the Centre, an 80-year-old building near the Golden Temple


There has been a call to rename a historic post office in honour of former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

Gurjeet Singh Aujla, a Congress MP from Amritsar, has written to the Central Government requesting that the historic post office at the Golden Temple be renamed in honour of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. In this regard, Aujla has written to the Chief Postmaster General of the Chandigarh Division and Dr Chandrasekhar, the Union Minister of State for Communications.

According to MP Gurjeet Aujla, this post office is between 70 and 80 years old. For many years, it has provided services to locals, visitors, and devotees. This post office is situated across from Guru Ram Das Sarai and close to the Golden Temple.

According to Aujla’s letter, this post office is a symbol of India Post’s history and service ethic and is located within the Golden Temple’s hallowed boundaries. The life of Dr Manmohan Singh is a model of integrity, modesty, and dedication. It will be a source of pride for Punjab and the entire nation to dedicate this historic post office in his honour.

The post office is situated next to Sri Guru Ramdas Sarai.

Dr Manmohan Singh is a superb economist.
