Husband and Wife Arrested with Heroin and Drug Money in Amritsar: Son of Home Guard Jawan Used to Supply; Action Taken After Complaint on Online Portal.
Police have detained a husband and wife involved in drug trafficking, along with heroin and drug money, in the rural Amritsar neighbourhood of Ajnala. During a drive against drug smugglers, the arrest was carried out under the supervision of DSP Ajnala Gurwinder Singh Aulakh and directed by SSP Amritsar Rural Maninder Singh. As part of the Punjab government’s ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign, the police apprehended the couple, who lived in Pind (Village) Lakhhuwal, in possession of 20 grams of heroin and drug money, according to Harchand Singh Sandhu, SHO of the Ajnala police station.
Identifying the Accused
Hardeep Singh, the son of Amrik Singh and his wife, Kanwaljeet Kaur, who dwell in Lakhhuwal, has been identified as the arrested suspect. Both have been produced in court after a charge under the NDPS Act was filed against them at the Ajnala Police Station.

Heroin Provided by a Home Guard Son Jawan
According to the police inquiry, Hardeep Singh’s uncle, a member of the Home Guard, has a son who is currently free on parole from prison. The husband and wife used to purchase heroin from this young man, who would subsequently resell it. According to SHO Harchand Singh, the hunt for further members of this network is still going on.
