Raid on Sweet Factories in Ludhiana: Officials Stunned by Filth, Samples Taken for Rasgulla and Paneer.
The Health Department took significant action by seizing facilities that made sweets in the Shimlapuri region just before Ludhiana’s holiday season. Due to the growing demand for Diwali, the department was constantly receiving complaints about the growing filth and adulteration of sweets.
Officials were shocked by the amount of filth (dirt/unhygienic conditions) when the Health Department teams unexpectedly inspected the factory and candy stores. Additionally, the unhygienic conditions in which sweets were being manufactured prompted the officials to promptly collect samples of food products such as paneer (Indian cheese), gulab jamun, and rasgulla. The factory owners were also given challans, which are penalties or notices of violations, during this period.
The Health Department Warns Candy Manufacturers
Manufacturers of confections have been cautioned by the Health Department to practise strict cleanliness and refrain from adulteration. The department has said unequivocally that they will face legal action if adulteration or contamination is discovered in any product following sample testing.
The campaign will last till Diwali.
The adulterators are furious about this conduct. In order to provide people with clean and hygienic sweets, the agency announced that this programme will continue in other sections of the city till Diwali.
