Earthquake News: Earth Shakes with 7.4 Magnitude Quake, Tsunami Alert Issued.
Manila, October 10, 2025: Authorities promptly issued a tsunami warning after a strong 7.4-magnitude earthquake shook the southern Philippine island of Mindanao on Friday morning.
According to reports, the tremors were so severe that terrified individuals fled their homes and workplaces. Authorities have advised residents in coastal areas to immediately move to higher and safer ground.
Destructive Tsunami Risk; Aftershock Alert Issued
Following the earthquake, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) have issued a number of grave warnings.
Tsunami Warning: Within 300 kilometers of the epicenter, authorities have issued a warning that damaging tsunami waves exceeding one meter (3 feet) in height could be produced. It has been advised that people avoid the beaches.
Aftershocks Alert: The organization has warned that there may be further aftershocks in the hours ahead and has urged people to exercise caution.

Cities in Panic, Damage Assessment Started
The third-largest city in the Philippines, Davao City, was hardest hit by the earthquake. Social media videos depict people frantically fleeing shopping centers and buildings into the streets.
Despite the extremely high magnitude of the earthquake, no significant damage or injuries have been reported as of yet. The matter is being evaluated by officials. Notably, the Philippines is located in the “Pacific Ring of Fire,” a region characterized by high levels of volcanic and seismic activity.
Earlier, on September 30, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 also occurred in the province of Cebu, killing 69 people.
