Nodal Officers and Cluster Officers appointed to prevent stubble burning incidents must work with full vigilance Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sona Thind appeals to the farmers of the district not to burn stubble
Fatehgarh Sahib, October 06:
Deputy Commissioner Dr Sona Thind said that since reducing the district’s increasing environmental pollution has become a top priority, collaboration from all facets of society is crucial to ending the stubble burning habit. At a meeting with the Nodal Officers and Cluster Officers assigned to the villages of the Fatehgarh Sahib Sub-Division at Bachat Bhawan, she voiced these opinions. She said that in order to minimise stubble burning occurrences and guarantee that Fatehgarh Sahib, the site of the martyrs, is pollution-free, the District Administration will implement a zero-tolerance policy.
Instructions to Officers and Appeal to Farmers
In order to closely monitor incidences of stubble burning, Dr. Sona Thind gave the Nodal Officers and Cluster Officers instructions to make sure they stayed in their respective communities. She issued a warning that any cop who fails to perform their duties will face severe consequences.
In order to stop burning incidents, she gave the Police Department officials instructions to make sure that teams were constantly patrolling the communities. She added that cops will receive recognition for their outstanding efforts to stop stubble burning.
The Deputy Commissioner also emphasised the necessity of aggressively promoting the Punjab Government’s stubble management ‘Uttam Kisan 2.0’ mobile app and consistently educating the local farmers about the negative consequences of burning. She clarified that farmers who want to rent out their equipment or who don’t have any stubble management equipment can sign up on this app to receive or donate equipment.
Dr Sona Thind urged the district’s farmers to support the District Administration’s efforts to achieve the zero burning goal to the fullest extent possible. Instead of burning the stubble, she suggested they incorporate it into the field. In addition to lowering pollution in the environment, this will improve soil fertility and lessen the demand for needless fertilisers by farmers.
