SHO Suspended in Ludhiana: Sub-Inspector Failed to Act on Woman’s Complaint; Police Commissioner Also Ordered Departmental Inquiry.

Sub-Inspector Jaspal Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Tibba Police Station in Ludhiana, Punjab, has been suspended by Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma for failing to handle women’s complaints and causing needless delays in filing a case. The SHO was taken to the Police Lines following the suspension, and he has since been the subject of departmental inquiry orders. It has been learnt that a new SHO has been assigned in Tibba; however, ACP East Sumit Sood stated that he was not aware of the SHO’s suspension.

The Commissioner’s Remarks Regarding the Case…
A woman with a case of domestic abuse was approached: According to Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, Dolly, a resident of Jassian Road, which is under the Tibba Police Station’s jurisdiction, approached him with a grievance. She claimed that she had been severely injured in an attack by her spouse. The couple’s ongoing argument was the cause of this attack.

SHO postponed filing the FIR in this case: The woman said that she had brought the complaint to the Tibba Police Station and told SHO Jaspal Singh about her concern, according to the CP (Commissioner of Police).

She insisted that the situation be handled immediately, but the SHO was careless and took too long to file the FIR.

Suspended SHO sent to Police Lines: According to the Commissioner, he promptly ordered the SHO’s suspension and transfer to the Police Lines after hearing the victim woman’s complaint when she phoned him on Tuesday. In addition, he directed the concerned police to file a formal complaint and record the woman’s statement right away. Any station head’s negligence will not be accepted.
CP According to Swapan Sharma, a new SHO has been assigned to the Tibba Police Station following the removal of Sub-Inspector Jaspal Singh from the position. He has directed the concerned police to ensure that the victim receives justice right away. In any circumstance, Ludhiana Police is dedicated to delivering justice to the public, and any Station Head’s carelessness will not be accepted. As required by law, the SHOs must promptly give the complainants justice.

The case was not registered because they were trying to mediate a compromise.
About six days ago, the woman went to the Tibba Police Station to file a complaint against her husband, according to information obtained from police sources. She had related the whole story to SHO Jaspal Singh. Upon initiating an investigation, the police discovered that the SHO was attempting to mediate a settlement or compromise in the marital conflict.

Final Snippet: Sources claim that despite the MLA’s efforts to mediate for a few days, the issue remained unsolved. Following this, the woman returned to the police station and requested that the SHO file a formal complaint; however, in the hopes of reaching a settlement, the SHO chose not to do so. The woman then immediately complained about the SHO to the Police Commissioner. The Commissioner didn’t do this till after that.
