GRP conducted a checking drive at Amritsar Railway Station: Security tight due to festivals; appeal to passengers to remain alert.

The Government Railway Police, or GRP, carried out a thorough inspection sweep at the Amritsar train station today. Given the approaching festivals, this measure was taken with the intention of bolstering security arrangements. Along with the Force and Dog Squad team, SP GRP Gurvinder Singh Sandhu himself stayed at the station at this time. The police checked every passenger coming into and going out of the station, and they meticulously examined the passengers’ luggage.

According to SP Gurvinder Singh Sandhu, this inspection is being conducted in accordance with ongoing directives from DGP Railways, Punjab.

Six firearms and almost six kilogrammes of heroin, which was being trafficked from Madhya Pradesh to Batala, were found during the inspection at the Ludhiana station. Special vigilance is now being maintained throughout the state to stop drug trafficking, illegal firearms, and such suspicious activities.
