Red Ribbon Clubs’ Drama Competition Organized by Youth Services Department

First-place team in the drama competition will participate in the state-level competition.

September 29, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar: The Assistant Director, Youth Services, S.A.S. Nagar, coordinated a district-level drama competition for all of the Red Ribbon Clubs in the district, following the directives of the Director, Youth Services, Punjab, and working with the Punjab State AIDS Control Society. Khalsa College (Amritsar) of Technology & Business Studies, Phase-3A, Mohali, was the venue for the event.

Assistant Director Capt. Mantej Singh Cheema stated that the purpose of these competitions is to protect youth from societal evils. He said the Red Ribbon Clubs are trying to raise awareness about AIDS, the deadly effects of drugs, and voluntary blood donation. These competitions were organised as part of this effort. The successful execution of the program was greatly aided by Dr. Harish Kumari, the college principal. The college teams’ stirring plays about drugs and HIV/AIDS left everyone in awe. S. Gurbakhshish Singh and Mrs. Lakhwinder Kaur served as judges. S. Jagjit Singh served as a resource person and gave the keynote address on HIV/AIDS during the session.

First place went to Chandigarh University in Gharuan, followed by Government College in Dera Bassi in second and S.M.H.S. Government College in Phase-6 in third. The top three finishers received certificates and prize money. This time, nodal officers from other colleges were also present, including Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Mrs. Shalu Devi, Mrs. Kirandeep Kaur, Mrs. Munisha Mahajan, and Club President S. Jagtar Singh. The team that finished first will participate at the state level.
