Paddy procurement starts in Ludhiana market: 400 quintals of paddy sold on the first day in Asia’s second largest grain market.
Paddy procurement at Asia’s second-largest grain market in Jagraon, Ludhiana district, started on September 27, according to the news report from Jagraon, Ludhiana. Approximately 400 quintals of paddy were sold on the first day for 2,389 rupees each. Paddy procurement in Punjab began on September 16 but was delayed in the Jagraon market because of the rainy season, according to Punjab Mandi Secretary Kawalpreet Singh Kasli. Sarabjit Kaur Manuke, a local MLA, opened the market’s procurement procedure. To prevent any issues during the procurement process, officials urged farmers to send dry paddy to the market.

Officials have urged rice mill owners to cooperate, stating that “farmers’ crop will be procured as soon as it arrives,” in light of the agricultural devastation brought on by this year’s floods. To guarantee that farmers’ harvests are purchased as soon as they arrive, the market committee has guaranteed that all required preparations have been done at the grain market. According to the report, a number of dignitaries and authorities, including Superintendent Ravinder Singh Peh and Mandi Supervisor Jasprit Kaur, were present as the paddy procurement process began.
