Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar to Hold Press Conference

Political tensions rise over the central government’s ₹1600 crore; AAP surrounds them, and BJP will be on the offensive today.

The national government’s announcement to provide the state with ₹1600 crore in response to the recent floods has sparked political tensions in Punjab. The national government is allegedly pushing Punjab around, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is cornering the BJP administration on this issue.

The federal government’s compensation is referred to as “a drop in the ocean”. Sunil Jakhar, the president of the Punjab BJP, will hold a press conference today in the interim. It is unclear what the press conference will be about, but it is thought that he will also question the administration about the floods and the state of affairs.

This is the biggest flood to hit Punjab since 1988. There are now 2555 villages impacted by flooding, mostly in the districts of Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana. 199,926 hectares have been inundated, and 389,445 persons have been impacted overall. Helping people is the focus of numerous political parties and social service organisations. The BJP has since constructed four makeshift homes where residents are receiving food, household goods, sleeping quarters, and other essentials.

The Prime Minister and the Union Agriculture Minister have also received Governor Gulab Chand Kataria’s report. Additionally, the damage has been assessed by a central staff. A girdawari, or survey of crop damage, is being carried out by the Punjabi government. All payments would be made within 40 days, according to CM Bhagwant Mann.
