Farmers should spray PAU-recommended fungicides to prevent rice false smut disease: Chief Agriculture Officer
- Agricultural experts are surveying fields and raising awareness among farmers.
Fatehgarh Sahib, 16 September:
According to information provided by Chief Agriculture Officer Dr. Gurnam Singh, several areas in the Amloh block where paddy was planted late have seen an attack of fake smut disease as a result of recent heavy rains and extended overcast weather. Farmers should apply fungicides suggested by Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, such as 400 milliliters of Galileo Way 18.76 SC or 500 grams of Kocide 46 DF diluted in 200 liters of water, he said, in order to manage this disease. When the crop is in the boot stage, this should be sprayed.

Farmers should refrain from using fungicides now that the paddy crop is ready for harvest, according to Dr. Gurnam Singh. He suggested that harvesting the paddy crop throughout the day is the best option.
According to the Chief Agriculture Officer, district employees and department representatives are scanning the fields and educating farmers on how to avoid contracting this disease.
