In the parking area in front of the 9th Battalion office in Amritsar, Punjab, a police officer’s body was discovered inside a vehicle. Constable Gurkirat Singh was recognized as the dead. He joined the police force in 2018 and was originally from Umarwal village in the Gurdaspur district.

Constable Gurkirat Singh’s body was discovered inside a car with bullet marks on it, according to DSP Dr. Sheetal Singh. Initial reports state that he was deployed to Pathankot after serving on police and order duty during the Amarnath Yatra and had just returned. Then he had returned with his weapons from duty and was transferred to work in Patiala. Constable Gurkirat Singh, who was assigned to the 9th Battalion, was about 25 years old.

A police crew arrived at the spot after receiving the information and conducted an area inspection. The crime scene has also been visited by an experienced team.

According to police, the cause of death cannot yet be determined with certainty. Only when the post-mortem report is released will the true cause be revealed.
