Sakhi One Stop Center Organizes 37 Awareness Camps for Needy Women in the Last Eight Months

  • Women are being made aware of their rights.
  • Temporary accommodation facilities are also available for victims of violence.

Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Dr Sona Thind, the Sakhi One Stop Centre in Fatehgarh Sahib has been extremely helpful for needy women in an attempt to guarantee their safety and raise knowledge of their rights.

The centre has been educating women about a range of programmes and rights, such as the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Sakhi One Stop Centre, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, free legal aid, and the women’s helpline number 181, according to District Program Officer Anooratan Kaur. The centre offers support to victims of many atrocities, including molestation, acid attacks, domestic abuse, cybercrime, and more. This covers free legal help, police support, psychiatric counselling, medical support, and short-term housing.

The Sakhi One Stop Centre’s staff has planned 37 awareness camps in both rural and urban locations during the past eight months. Additionally, they have assisted in the resolution of 119 intricate situations involving women.

In charge of the Sakhi One Stop Centre, Rajni provided more information, saying that people are being made aware of new legislation that supports women and several governmental programs that help underprivileged women. The facility has supplied:

Accommodations for 14 women temporarily

38 women receive legal assistance

Twelve women receive legal advice

51 women receive police aid

Four ladies receive medical assistance

107 women received psychosocial counselling.
