Rain caused a building to fall in Amritsar, obstructing the Golden Temple route and scattering debris. Both locals and devotees are experiencing inconvenience as a result of the tragedy.
September 3, 2025, Amritsar In the city of Amritsar, a structure collapsed, severely disrupting local traffic, including a thoroughfare that leads to the Golden Temple. Debris from the collapse, which was caused by persistently high rainfall, has been dispersed around the neighborhood, causing discomfort to both locals and devotees.

As the region struggles with the unrelenting monsoon rains, Amritsar and the neighboring districts have seen a number of building and roof collapses in recent days, including this one.
Separate Incidents: An 11-year-old girl lost her life when the mud roof of her family’s home fell in Sathiala hamlet, which is in the Baba Bakala Sahib district. Additional relatives were hurt and sent to the hospital. The family was visited by a local MLA who assured them of government financial support.
Another incident included the collapse of a 100-year-old vacant structure in the Suniyare Wala Kuh neighborhood. Thankfully, nobody was hurt, but a parked car sustained serious damage. Concern has been raised by locals, who claim they have previously informed the authorities about the building’s state of disrepair but have not heard back.
The entire city Flooding: Major roadways have become virtual ponds as a result of the widespread flooding caused by the heavy rainfall. Rescue teams, including the Indian Army, have been sent to help villagers caught by the floodwaters as the surging Ravi River cut off settlements. A substantial amount of agricultural land is underwater, according to preliminary surveys, and the floods have also seriously damaged crops, especially basmati rice.

Residents are being advised by authorities to exercise caution and stay away from low-lying regions. Because of the constant rain and flooding, the state government has also declared that all institutions and universities will be closed until September 3.
