Chandigarh: Heavy Rain, Sukhna’s Flood Gates Opened
Waterlogging in Many Areas of Tricity, Road Closed in Mubarikpur; Colonies Evacuate.
Many parts of Chandigarh, including the entire tricity, have experienced waterlogging as a result of the recent rains. Sukhna Lake’s two floodgates have been somewhat widened. The Ghaggar River’s water level has increased to the danger level in the steep regions.
Traffic has been halted in Zirakpur’s Mubarikpur region due to the Ghaggar’s water running above the causeway.

They have evacuated the colonies along the road. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula until 11:30 AM, and people have been advised to stay at home.

Since last night, the tricity had been experiencing rain. As a result, Sukhna Lake’s water level had risen to about 1162.40 feet. When it crosses 1163 feet, the floodgates are opened. Nonetheless, the administration has issued a high-alert warning. Teams from the municipal corporation are also on guard in addition to this.

There have been multiple instances of waterlogging in Chandigarh as a result of the rain. People have been alerted about this by the Chandigarh Police. However, it has been suggested that people proceed through these areas with greater caution than they would elsewhere. The traffic police are on the scene, and more details will be given as soon as possible.
