He told reporters after the event that the Punjabi government is with the people during this crisis and will help them through every challenge. Rescue and relief efforts are now under way, he said. In order to make up for any losses, a special girdawari (revenue assessment) would be carried out after things have stabilized. According to him, the Punjab Chief Minister established a powerful relief committee, and three top officers have been dispatched to the Amritsar district to oversee and support these efforts.

In order to evaluate the situation, Sinha spoke with residents of the communities encircled by flooding. He also asked for opinions from the general public regarding the assistance that the district administration has so far offered. He personally gave out relief supplies and urged residents to relocate to safer areas in a number of settlements. He then convened a thorough meeting with army and district officials, during which they openly discussed the rescue and relief plan that had been implemented and the progress that had been made thus far. He commended the NDRF, police, civil administration, and army people for their ongoing efforts.

The Chief Secretary gave the administration instructions to make sure that everything was in place to support the impacted individuals as much as possible and to ask volunteers from social organizations led by the Red Cross for assistance. Additionally, Sinha expressed gratitude to the social service organizations that volunteered for the relief efforts.

Teams from the Departments of Revenue, Health, Animal Husbandry, Water Resources, Rural Development, Panchayats, and other relevant departments are on duty around the clock in the flood-affected areas and are actively working on relief efforts with thorough planning, according to Deputy Commissioner Sahni. “Work is being done continuously to ensure that no affected person faces a shortage of food, medicine, or shelter,” she added, adding that this is the district administration’s first concern.

Maninder Singh, the district police chief, provided insight into the plans put in place by the police and the hard work that police officers do to serve the public and maintain security.
