It’s Time to Address the True Causes of Floods: The Importance of Keeping in Touch with Nature

Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, the acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, spoke to Punjabis in response to the terrible floods in the state, emphasising the importance of mutual solidarity during this trying time. He said that people are in a lot of trouble because the floods have seriously damaged homes, crops, and cattle.

He emphasised that in times of difficulty, Punjab has a history of uniting in love and fraternity. He asked people to keep helping one another, pointing out that once the floodwaters subsided, the challenges would probably get worse.

Giani Gargaj also urged all social and religious institutions to support the victims and carry on serving humanity.

He emphasised the need for an investigation to ascertain the true causes of Punjab’s frequent floods. He questioned why river waters kept infiltrating plain areas, pointing out that the state experienced significant floods in 2023 and again only two years later. According to him, this information is essential for raising public awareness and averting future severe catastrophes.

The Jathedar further underlined the significance of coexisting peacefully with nature, citing the teachings of the Gurus. He hoped that everyone would get through this challenging moment with the Guru’s grace as he wrapped up his message.
