Residents of Ajnala’s Inundated Villages Declare, “We’ll Go Back Five Years”
Villagers Say “Now There’s Nothing Left to Eat” After Homes and Crops Are Destroyed.
Flooding has caused a serious catastrophe in a number of villages in the Ajnala region. The lives of the locals in villages like Phulle Check, Kotli Korotana, Vanjhawal, Nangal, and Kamirpura have been completely destroyed by the infiltration of river water. In addition to entering houses and making life difficult, the water has totally ruined the fields’ standing crops.
Residents claim that because all of their agricultural labour has been buried, this flood will cause them to regress by five years. This flood is turning out to be a serious catastrophe for farmers. The locals lament, “Now there’s nothing left even to eat.”
Many homes have standing water as a result of the crisis, and residents are being compelled to evacuate in search of safer locations. For women, children, and the elderly, the situation has gotten significantly worse. As drinking water and other necessary infrastructure are also impacted, the risk of infections is rising. The locals have made a request for urgent aid from the administration and government.
