The Civil Hospital’s lack of readiness has been made clear by the three days of nonstop rain in Amritsar, where a chaotic scenario has been caused by water leaking from the emergency ward’s roof.

Heavy Rains Expose Poor State of Civil Hospital in Amritsar.

The hospital’s emergency ward is the most severely impacted location; there, the ceiling has begun to leak and has even fallen in some spots. Patients and their families are in great anguish as a result of the flooding that has occurred within the unit.

The situation is still out of control even though several patients who were admitted to the emergency unit had to be moved to other wards. The hospital’s facilities have gotten worse, according to patients, and the rain has only made matters worse.

Hospital employees are using buckets and plastic sheets to try to halt the leaks, but this isn’t really working. “If the emergency ward isn’t safe, how can we expect ordinary people to survive?” said one irate patient.

The Reaction of the Hospital Administration
Dr Rashmi, the senior medical officer, admitted that the severity of the rain had an impact on the emergency ward. Senior officials have been made aware of the issue, she said, and patients have been relocated to safer locations. As soon as the rain stops, Dr Rashmi promised the public that the repairs would be finished in ten to fifteen days.

The current state of the Civil Hospital not only raises questions about the administration’s performance but also highlights the weaknesses in public infrastructure. The situation brought on by the heavy rain has become a major question mark over the state of public healthcare.
