Following Tamil Nadu’s model, Punjab CM Mann announces a breakfast program for government schools.
A ‘breakfast system’ will soon be introduced in Punjab’s government schools, according to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. He travelled to Tamil Nadu on Tuesday in order to research the breakfast program that the state government had previously implemented in urban primary schools.
He provided meals to the children before joining them for a meal with Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. During the ceremony, he stated that the cabinet would discuss the implementation of a similar plan in Punjab.
Regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mann added, “National-level leaders say anything these days. They continue to spread falsehoods and unfulfilled promises while being cursed by others. “Good days will come” (Achhe din aayenge)—who knows when they’ll arrive? We’re still waiting, but they’ve come for him.” Additionally, Mann claimed to have said in Parliament that Modi no longer exudes charm. He went on to say that talks by themselves won’t turn the nation into a “dharma guru” (religious leader) and that the truth will finally come out.

Tamil Nadu Cuisine in Every Part of Punjab Chief Minister Mann referred to Punjab as the “food bowl” of India and said that there is never a grain shortage in the nation. He stated that Punjab has easy access to delicacies like pani puri, masala dosa, dosa, and upma, and that Tamil Nadu cuisine is now well-liked across the country. Even though Punjabi food is regarded as a little heavy, he stated that he anticipates a positive reaction to the plan in this place.
The chief minister added that his administration has established 881 Aam Aadmi clinics and plans to create 200 more. These clinics provide entirely free care to almost 70,000 patients every day.
Additionally, he noted that Punjab’s government schools now do noticeably better. This year, 469 students passed the JEE Advanced exam, and 805 students from government schools passed the NEET exam. According to him, youngsters will achieve even greater outcomes when they study with joy.
What Makes a Midday Meal Different from a Breakfast Meal?
A midday meal is served in the afternoon to kids in classes one through eight, which is the primary distinction between it and a breakfast program. On the other hand, breakfast is provided to primary school pupils in the morning when classes begin. Millet-based foods will be offered, and special care has been paid to the children’s health.
According to the government, providing a healthy breakfast to children from low-income households will boost their attendance and raise educational standards. Upma is served on Monday and Thursday, khichdi on Tuesday, pongal on Wednesday, and desserts on Friday as part of the morning program.
The Strong Bond Between Tamil Nadu and Punjab
The Tamil Nadu administration said that Punjab and Tamil Nadu have a very close relationship at this time. M. Karunanidhi, the chief minister at the time, travelled to Punjab in 1969. He visited Ludhiana Agricultural University at the time to examine its model. The Agricultural University was founded in Coimbatore in 1971 as a result.
