A Quintal of Poppy Husk Seized in Fatehgarh Sahib.

Three smugglers were arrested for supplying drugs from Madhya Pradesh, including a husband and wife.

An interstate narcotics smuggling network that was bringing poppy husk from Madhya Pradesh to Punjab was busted by the Fatehgarh Sahib Police. Three smugglers have been taken into custody by the police. Among the defendants are Ujjwal Gupta, a resident of Naveen Nagar Ojhpura, Saharanpur; Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Lakhha Singh Wala, Ferozepur; and his spouse, Simran Soni.

SP Rakesh Yadav claims that on the evening of August 20, the three were taken into custody from the Sirhind grain market by the CIA staff led by Sarabjit Singh. The accused was found in possession of a quintal of poppy husk.

The accused were supplying Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana, and Mohali with cheaply purchased poppy husk from Madhya Pradesh; it was discovered during questioning. In 2021, Simran Soni was also charged with smuggling 26 kg of poppy husk. After being released from prison, she resumed her drug smuggling activities after receiving a term in that case.
