An LPG tanker and a pickup truck crashed on the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar National Highway close to Mandiala hamlet, resulting in a huge explosion and fire. The tanker exploded as a result of the collision’s gas leak.
Casualties: According to reports, the explosion left over 30 people injured and at least two dead.
Cause of Accident: According to reports, a pickup truck hauling vegetables struck the LPG tanker.
Fire expanded: The fire swiftly expanded, consuming four private homes and fifteen stores along the route.
Official Reaction: Police and local authorities, including SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik and Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain, rushed to the site. To contain the fire, they summoned firemen from nearby locations and oversaw rescue efforts.
Public Reaction and Allegations: Locals protested, claiming that the LPG factory had been the subject of complaints and that the gas was being transported illegally. Gursimranjit Kaur, the SDM, promised that the government would pay for the damages and look into the claims; therefore, the demonstration was called off.
Highway Closure: In order to limit traffic and support rescue and relief activities, the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar National Highway was totally closed.
Some severely burnt patients were moved to different hospitals, while the injured were taken right away to the Hoshiarpur Civil Hospital. Police have started looking into what caused the collision and have filed a First Information Report (FIR).
