Chandigarh Railway Station: Work begins on boom barrier.

Construction on the boom barrier at Chandigarh Railway Station has begun.

Access to the portal is only when the QR code has been scanned; the air concourse will be where passengers wait.

At last, work has begun to build boom barriers at the Chandigarh railway station. Four months after making this announcement, the business has already begun work in Chandigarh and Panchkula. Passengers will need to scan a QR code in order to access the platform following the boom barrier’s erection. Family members who are picking up or dropping off passengers won’t be permitted to go straight to the platform under the new procedure. The air concourse is where they will have to wait. Passengers must wait in the air concourse and are not permitted to proceed to the platform, even if their train is running late. At the station, a massive 72-by-80-meter air concourse is being built for people who are waiting. There will be chairs and other waiting amenities accessible here as the finishing touches are completed.

Starting with major stations in the first phase.

Officials said that in the first phase, the railways will start this process at stations with over 20,000 passengers each day. The system will then be progressively introduced at additional stations.

About 70% of the construction of the foot overbridge (FOB), which will allow passengers to move between platforms, is finished. Two 12-meter-wide FOBs are reportedly being constructed at either end of the station, one facing Kalka and the other towards Ambala.

The station buildings in Chandigarh and Panchkula will be connected to these FOBs. Through these FOBs, passengers will be able to access the platforms via stairs and lifts.
